Medical Taking/threatening an illegal action Threatened to sue on too old debt New Jersey
Lately we have received debt collection notices from a Michael Harrison Esq. in -, NJ. The notices started coming in - for services allegedly incurred by my daughter, who has a - and a lot of medical expenses, in -. Now we 've received a notice stating we are being sued for $1200.00 for a bill of $950.00 from - which was allegedly unpaid, but for which we have not received any communication from the provider in years. We assumed it was a scam. Now we 've just received letters from - - notifying us that - additional charges are 'authorized for lawsuit. ' The letters do n't even give a the services were provided, so we do n't even know what year we are talking about. Again, we pay about $10000.00 in medical bills to various providers annually and generally pay promptly. We have no idea where these charges came from or why we are getting notices from a collection agency years after the fact. And now - - is using the court system to harrass and intimidate us into paying money - to his firm - which we are fairly certain is not owed.
