Citibank Credit card department,
Hello, I signed up for a promotion to get points after spending a certain amount on the credit card. After meeting the requirements, I was awarded the points. This - I cancelled the card, and was never notified that the points would expire after the card is closed, since I have additional cards with the bank. Based on what I 've been told before, as long as I have accounts with the bank, the points will not expire. This is stated in the disclaimer as well. After speaking to a rep over the phone, they advised that I shouldve been notified when i filled out the request the close the account. However, I never needed to fill out a form to close the account. I just sent one simple message, and the team closed my account out. This is very deceptive and the rep acknowledged that I shouldve received notification as well prior to the account getting close and that I shouldve received properly disclaimers on the effects of an account closure. Citibank is inconsistent in the way they handle accounts and the consumer if negatively affected as a result.
