I have a fixed rate mortgage from US Bank. Despite property tax and insurance costs being readily available, they have consistently miscalculated my mortgage escrow requirements year to year resulting in shortages. Each year they also miscalculate the shortages, asking for a very small amount up front and raising my monthly payment much higher to cover the rest. In years past I have been able to calculate manually and " pre-pay '' ( pay the actual shortage ) of my escrow. This year they claim the law changed on -/-/- such that they 're no longer allowed to do that. They were unable to define the exact law.
