Citibank Credit card department,
On -/-/16 I received a call from a scam falsely claiming to be IRS and that I owed over $5000.00. I was told that I must buy a $500.00 tax payment voucher or $500.00 of - gift cards at Best Buy and call in the numbers on the gift cards, or face a warrant for an arrest. I bought the $500.00 worth of - gift cards at the Best Buy, but did not call in the numbers to the scammers. I went to my elected official and I was told it was a scam. So I went back to Best Buy immediately to return the - $500.00 gift cards and to have my credit card purchase cancelled. Best Buy told me that you can not return - cards once they are purchased. I write to ask your help in allowing me to return the Best Buy $500.00 gift cards and have my credit card purchase cancelled. My credit card company called Best Buy and confirmed that Best Buy policy does not allow return of - cards.
and cancel my credit transaction. It just seems wrong that - & Best Buy were aware of this scam and profited by my purchase. The Best Buy manager felt sorry for me that I am a - that was victim of this scam, but still did not cancel the transaction.. It seems wrong to me that - and Best Buy profited on this - scam. The Best Buy is at - - -, -- Also, I filed a report with the Treasury Department on this scam. Thanking you in advance for your help.
