My daughter took out a private student loan two years ago from Wells Fargo and we, her parents, co-signed.The condition of the loan agreement we signed was that payments did not come due till my daughter graduated, or was no longer a - - -. She is still a - - -, and has just recently been informed that her credit is ruined because her student loan is in default. Apparently there was a mistake, but Wells Fargo is dragging their feet on correcting their mistake, and meanwhile, my daughter ca n't even open a checking account as her credit score is so damaged by their mistake. They keep pressuring us to pay the whole amount, which is $30000.00 to resolve this issue faster. But paying the full amount while our daughter is still in school was not the original agreement.
