I took out a home equity mortgage with Wells Fargo Mortgage in -. I have had this repeated issue whenever I pay my bill past the - of the month, but always before the end of the month. They charge a late fee of $13.00. They repeatedly have not applied my late fee and keep saying that I owe it. They are putting the monies toward the principal balance. Today after talking to - - at - about the matter he transferred me to - - at - He said as a courtesy he could apply one late fee amount to the unapplied late fees. They now have me down for two late fees. He said they can not do that without further research. I said if brought in my receipts ( because I pay them at the bank due to other issues I 've had with them in the past that I reported when they said they did not receipt payment by mail or online ). He said that actually it is to my benefit to have the late fee go towards the principal because it will reduce the interest. I explained to him I have already paid off

So, I am going in to the bank with my payment receipts from the last few months to attempt to rectify this matter today. - - gave me his direct number and fax line. Hopefully this can be taken care of. I am complaining because this has been a continuous problem this year. My last calls in the spring rectified the problem at that time. Now just a couple of months later they are doing the same thing. I am sure if this is happening to me it might be happening to others. I trust you will investigate this Wells Fargo practice that I believe violates the Fair Debt Collection Act.
