-/-/- my husband and I cancelled a gym membership with -. We were moving to a new home and would no longer be located near the gym. We were told that after one more deduction from our bank account the membership would be terminated. However, two months later we were still being charged. We then went up to the gym and were told somehow the cancellation was not showing on file and we needed to process another one so we did. During that time the owners changed to now - -. We were told that the membership would be cancelled immediately and were given tons of apologies this was on -/-/-. Assuming the membership was cancelled the following month we saw another debit attempt to come out of our account ( overdrafting it by the way ) so I called the bank and cancelled the payment and blocked the gym from being able to debit from our account again as this was the only way we could think to stop it.


After that I went up to the gym AGAIN and was told that the cancellations were on file and that it would take some time to show in the system and disregard the collection activity. Since we had been lied to before this did not settle well with us. I sent an email to the company stating that I was refusing any debt and would like someone to look into this matter immediately and remove our names from any collection activity. After further research we were told that actually my husbands membership had been cancelled but mine had not and after 90 days it would be sent to a collection agency and reported on my credit report. Needless to say it was. I have emails from them and myself to show that his matter has not been addressed and they are refusing to take this account off of my credit report even though my Page - of - husband and I cancelled on the same day at the same time and somehow his was cancelled and mine was not. This is unlawful and I have spoken with the credit reporting company called First Credit Services and get people who I can barely understand and they can barely understand me. I need someone to come in and help me with this nightmare and have my name taken off of their system and also off of my credit. I Called the company and that the only way it can be deleted is if I pay the total balance which from my understanding is also against the law. I have records of this dispute and have yet to have my grievance looked into. I believe this company lost records or something during their new owners transfer but I will not suffer because of it. We did everything right and everything they told us to.
