Citibank Credit card department,
In - -, I received a flyer through the mail from Citi Bank offering their Double Cash MasterCard with 0 interest on all purchase balances for 18 months. I applyed on-line and my first billing period ended - -, -. I calculated that the interest-free offer would end with the -, - billing cycle. On my -, - statement there was an interest charge for $64.00. I contacted the bank and was told the offer had ended - -, -. I was informed I needed to produce the flyer as proof that the offer was for 18 months. I had not saved it. But I had agreed on-line to the terms and conditions of the offer at the time of application. I was unable to access a copy of those terms on the bank 's website nor was the customer service rep able to tell me how I could obtain a copy of the agreement. After 4 phone calls to Citi Bank, I was told a supervisor would call me back in 2 to 3 days. That has not happened. I feel Citi Bank 's advertising and business practices are deceptive. The bank should clearly state the expiration date of their offer when the card is initiated. The customer should be able to view the terms and conditions agreed upon. The bank should issue a timely alert that the offer is about to expire, so that the customer has an opportunity to pay off the balance without an interest penalty.
