Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing New York
As a customer of Wells Fargo Bank for 6 years I applied for a Cash back credit card. On the application form I filled out my details as suggested and gave all my information. I was denied a credit card on the grounds that I was not a citizen or a green card holder. Upon inquiry I found out that as a resident Alien on an - - that the bank ran a credit check and denied me a card but nowhere on the website does it mention that only citizens or green card holders can apply. I Asked the bank why it was not mentioned on the form and why no banker would mention it? They said it was against Federal Law to to discriminate people while applying. This is misinformation because people apply but they do n't meet the standards for qualifying. So this is a violation of Federal law indirectly and it is discrimination. No other bank would deny me a card based on my citizenship. As long as I have a social security number and a good credit score that should be all the the Banks need. Do look into this matter as Wells Fargo is very discriminatory as to who they provide credit too. I am a resident Alien legally working and paying my taxes and bills on time. I should not be denied basic Banking services based on my citizenship. My credit score took a hit because of misinformation.
