Other bank product/service Making/receiving payments, sending money Texas
Paypal forces consumers to add a checking account to verify their identity. Once a checking account is linked to a consumer 's Paypal account, Paypal makes this account the default account where they take money from to pay for transactions. There is *no* way to change it. " One can not make a credit card account their default account after linking a checking account ''. Paypal does this to make extra $ $ by not paying credit card commissions and keep the 4 % themselves. I was careful to check and change the account to credit card account whenever I made transactions. However, I missed to change the account in my last transaction and Paypal took the money from my checking account and my bank account was overdrawn due to this. Bank charged me an NSF fee and I received a scary letter that my account will be reported to - and Credit bureaus due to NSF. I did not check this bank account since I linked an account that I do not use often and do not keep any money to Paypal. I chose an under used account since I was not comfortable linking my active checking account to Paypal. I deposited money to my checking account and Bank was nice and refunded the NSF fee but Paypal must have damaged credit scores of a lot of customers due to Paypal 's greed. If transaction gets declined due to NSF, Paypal will keep trying every day or every other day to debit the money which will rack up NSF fees for the consumer. Banks often pay Paypal debits even if an account does not have overdraft protection to avoid this NSF hassle.
