Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem cancelling or closing account Massachusetts
I attempted to access my annual free credit report from Experian, as guaranteed by the Federal Trade Commission. I submitted my information to access my report, and submitted credit card information, understanding it to be for identity verification purposes. I realized a few months later I had been charged for a monthly " membership '' to Experian, which I had absolutely no knowledge of purchasing and had zero interest in. I absolutely would have not purchased this if it had been labeled clearly. This was a complete bait-and-switch to sell a product buried into a free service guaranteed by the federal government. Upon calling to request a full refund, Experian provided one month 's refund but refused to refund the rest, implying that I must had indeed wanted to sign up for this useless product since I had n't cancelled it immediately ( despite not knowing I had signed up in the first place ).
