I got a phone call from Procollect Inc in - - about a debt that I did not know. This debt is based on the leasing contract of the apartment that I have never lived. I thought it was scam and ignore it. But I got a mail from this company in - -. After checking my credit record, I found that it was appeared in my credit record in - -. I requested Procollect Inc to send the proof showing I owed this debt in - -. They sent a leasing contract between DTN management and the person who had a similar first name and same last name, and went to the same University to me. However, that person is a clearly different person from me based on the full name, gender, passport number, and student ID and degree based on the record in the contract. I sent a letter stating that I am not the person who owes that certain debt with a proof ( a copy of my passport ) in - - via certified mail. However, Procollect did not respond after that. Now I find that the name of the person who made the contract with - was added to my credit record as - of my names and this debt is still in my credit record ( as in - - ). My credit scores have been dramatically decreased since they called me.
