I was enrolled in paperless statements with Citibank. It is a secondary card and I 'm a pay in full customer who has never had a delinquency mark in 28 years on file. After utilizing this card, my work email was changed ( added my middle initial ) at my employers request which caused the electronic statements for Citibank to be returned. Subsequently after two full months and Citibank getting returned electronic mail, I was contacted to inform me my account was 30 days behind. I received a call on a Saturday for the first time and called back immediately. I was shocked but quickly realized why I would n't have paid the full balance which was because I never received the electronic statement. I was informed as a customer it is solely my responsibility to inform the financial institution of the change in email address. I was told that Citibank does not monitor return emails, and I asked if that was
Additionally, I am concerned based on my good credit I was n't a priority to call while I was - payment behind and before it impacted my credit history. I thanked the escalation representative I spoke to, let him know that I would voice my concern through this channel- unfortunate. Again, this is not a financial issue. I paid off the account immediately which I always do, but now I have a 30 day mark on my credit file based for the first time in 28 years.
