I received loans in - to help with college. I have complained on the site before and and did not have any luck a few years ago, so I figured I would try again. I took loans out through American Education Services who is also National Collegiate Trust and was written in checks by -. I was interviewed over the phone and sent some forms signed my name and my money came. I took out loans 3 times due to misinformation at the college stating I would n't lose financial aid but I did. Otherwise I would have never taken out loans. I was sent to collections in -/-/- and have been there since. I have a great standing with my account there and have been trying to pay my way down. I do n't understand how you can stay in collections for 4 years+ until your loan is paid off. The loan terms state you may be in default after a missed payment, it does n't state how many or number of days, it also does not state that you must remain in default either. I took these loans out 10 years ago because it was the only option I had and I am almost - and they are still ruining my credit. Every month it is stamped as collection whether or not I pay and my credit score has sat at a measly - for the past 4 years because of it. I own up to my mistakes and understand the importance of payments but I do n't feel that I should have to suffer the rest of the $13000.00 I owe in collections. I will never get approved for a house or car or school again if you continue to drag me down. The loans currently sit with - out of Ohio. Which is also weird. I live in Colorado and the servicer is in Pennsylvania and New York I believe. So where does that put us?
