Amex Credit card department,
American Express tried to debit an unauthorized amount of $900.00 out of my checking account, when I had a $0.00 below ( I did not owe them anything ), causing me to get a returned payment fee with my bank and American Express. When I called American Express to report this, they acknowledged I did not owe anything, but said I tried to make the payment, so they would not credit me back the fee. I told them I definitely did not make a payment of $900.00, when I had a $0.00 balance ... that just does n't make sense. All I wanted was for them to remove the fee they were charging me for THEIR mistake, but they refused to do that. I then asked to speak with a manager and they just transferred me around to other people with the same job title, putting me on hold each time, never putting me in contact with a manager. This is ridiculous. They need to be held accountable for this.
