Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Received bad information about my loan California
My loan ( which had been refinanced/consolidated and was in good standing ) was servicing transferred American Education Services ( AES ) from -. Upon servicing transfer, AES changed the terms of the loan, including interest rate, amount due, term, etc. According to their information, this loan is now in Forbearance and they are charging me interest only payments rather than applying the amount to principal that was specified in the previous loan agreement. I have requested multiple times for them to research the history of the loan and correct their mistake, but they have chosen to do nothing. I asked them how they were justified in changing the terms of the loan under a simple, servicing transfer, but they insist that the loan was in default. - 's records will show otherwise, but AES has elected to not research the history of the loan and update their records.
