Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Don't agree with fees charged North Carolina

On - - I received a letter in the mail from ECSI informing me that my account was 15 days past due and that they would report delinquency if the payment was not received in the next 15 days. Until I received this mailed notification I had no previous notice that my deferment period was over. ECSI took a financial predatory approach by notifying me only AFTER the payment was due that I owed them money, which allowed them to collect a late fee. I received no information from ECSI beforehand so that I could budget for this monthly cost and set up an automatic payment. It is also disconcerting that they are using snail mail, an outdated approach in 2016, as their main form of communication. This negative experience strongly contrasts with the one I 've had with my federal student loan servicer, - -. They notified me 6 months prior to my first payment, which allowed me to set up an account on their website, a direct monthly payment, and establish an appropriate personal budget.
