I have maintained a PNC Bank account since -, - and was placed in a traditional type of account with maintenance free checking, money market account and no fee ATM card. We had enjoyed that convenience for many years and even through several other bank offers. In -/-/-, at the - branch of PNC Bank, we were asked to change our account to a premiere or premium account feature with more conveniences and we reluctantly agree. Now, we just discovered that we had suddenly been charged $10.00 money market account maintenance fee for the last 13 months because we were oddly required to come into a branch and change to yet another type of account or incur the charges. This is really very disappointing as it seems that now, the bank decides when to require its customers to physically come into a branch to change their account and quietly charge their accounts when they do not comply. The manager at the - branch told me that since I just initiated the update today, they will refund only one of 13 months account charges. I need some investigation into this as this may be happening to many other customers. It is actually a glorified form of stealing from customers.
