Checking account Making/receiving payments, sending money North Carolina
My check was declined with a local merchant as a result of Telecheck. When speaking with their representative, I was met with individuals with a strong foreign accent. However, I could cope with that more so than I could the fact that they were unable to give solid details on why the check I wrote was declined. I understand that this company is meant to protect merchants. But my checking account had the funding available. They inform me that my driver 's license was connected to an account at a bank that I have never frequented. In fact, there is no bank of that name in my city. In my efforts to the have the issue resolved, I was hung up on once. But as I continued to call back I was met with some very professional individuals who explained more clearly what was transpiring. However, my ultimate concern is whether this company should be merging the efforts of guaranteeing checks and debt collecting within the same umbrella. When the two purposes are merged into one, you have chaotic experiences like this one. While I have never had a checking account with the alleged bank in question, I am being
of my active checking account. This is not a credit issue. This is my money which I should effectively be able to spend at my leisure with any vendor. I am not confident in this company 's operation and I certainly am not confident in their ability to follow through and effectively investigate the matter as they claim they will. After about an hour of communicating, I am pretty confident that they will not adequately handle this situation and I may have to resort to a lawsuit with them and the vendor. They were unable according to the representative to provide any pertinent information about the alleged account. This is a direct violation of my rights as a consumer. I required full disclosure of the information for which they had on file as well as details on the account that triggered my denial. However, they were unable to provide and instructed me to complete a form so they could begin an investigation. The company has already taken adverse action against me by denying the approval of my check. The investigation should be required before action is taken is the method most suitable for the consumer.
