With the new credit card readers, customers of - Bank and First Niagara often find it confusing to use their bank/ATM card. -First Niagara charges a fee to use a bank card as a debit card, but when a customer swipes their card, - options appear, - - and - -. Customers naturally choose the - - option but find that at that point in the transaction, they can not use their cards a credit, and have to use them as a debit card and pay a fee. While many customers reverse course and hit the international - option so the cay pay for their groceries without having to pay the bank a fee, many customers presumably in a hurry or just frustrated and confused, decide not to bother with swiping their card again and just choose to use the card as a debit and pay the bank a fee. If so they are defrauding consumers and engaging in a manipulative tactic in order to squeeze money out of people.
