About 3 years ago, I started receiving credit card statements for a credit card from First Niagara Bank, -. To be clear, I have never opened an account with, or done business with First Niagara Bank. They took over the former - branches in our area. I used to have accounts with -, but closed all of them out before First Niagara took over. When I tried to call about this mysterious credit card in my name, I could n't get information because my credit card # on the account is all " - 's '' except the last - numbers ( - - - - ). I do n't even know if this is a - or - - but I was charged an annual fee & interest. I finally spoke to a local branch about this. Nobody could tell me how I came to have this credit card acct with no actual number or application attached to it. I told them to close it immediately. They said they would - and they did ... E-CEPT ... I then ended up with a - cent credit, which kept the account alive. I have tried several times to get them to close this account and send me a check for the - cents, or keep the - cents. I do n't care which. That has never happened & it has been a few years now. I 'm still receiving the statements. More importantly, I recently noticed that this " account '' is showing up as a negative on my credit report. It is actually the ONLY negative on my credit report - and it says " pays as agreed '' next to it ( as if I have made some kind of payment agreement with First Niagara ) - when actually they owe ME - cents - not to mention the fraud they have been committing against me.
