Citibank Credit card department,
Credit line increase/decrease Florida
In early - my family had a health crisis so my credit utilization spiked. Twice in - - raised my credit limit and my home depot credit card raised it once because of the falling utilization ratios. In - -, - I made a $2000.00 payment to my Citi Simplicity card. Then a few weeks later I did a cash advance and on - - i made a $500.00 payment. The card was below 50 % Utilization. Then on - - they sent me a notice that my debt levels are too high and for this they are cutting my limit in half to $1700.00 which put my utilization at close to 100 %. By - - I had payed $12000.00 dollars worth of debt back to my - credit cards and a personal loan that was taken out. My credit score then was above -. Now because of the cut in the card it is now in the high - 's. As a result my auto insurance which is based off of credit went up $100.00 despite having a perfect driving record. This also disqualifies me from purchasing a home as the minimum is - credit score. The attached documentation shows that - - raised my limit and the other documents show why and when Citi lowered my limit. I do not understand why - credit card will raise my limit twice in one year but - will cut it after I pay it down to 50 %. They have to know that this hurts your credit rating. Thank you.
