I purchased my first car on -/-/- and financed it with Credit Acceptance Corp . I made my payments online on time in - and - - using my debit card. On - - I was in an accident and immediately filed a claim. The car is a total loss. When I tried to make a payment on -/-/- the payment was declined with no explanation. I tried several times without success. I called the company on -/-/- and was told more than likely the insurance company had taken care of the loan. On -/-/- I called the Credit Acceptance because the insurance company was still waiting to hear from Credit Acceptance. I was then told that I had missed - payments and I had been reported to the credit bureau. I was told that when there is an accident you can not make payments using a debit card. I had no way of knowing this. I am attaching a copy of the message I received when I tried to make a payment. Today I tried to make the - past due payments using two methods : debit card online and calling and neither method allowed me to make a


I can not make a payment with a debit card if I have been in an accident. I want Credit Acceptance to accept my debit card payment and I want them to fix my credit report. I am young and this is my first attempt at establishing credit. I was diligent in making my payments in an accepted manner per the coupon book and coupon. Because I work - jobs I can not wait on the phone to make the payments during their office hours which are Eastern Time ; I live in California. The insurance company on -/-/- confirmed they are also waiting on Credit Acceptance for paperwork to pay off the loan.
