Payday loan Taking/threatening an illegal action Threatened arrest/jail if do not pay Iowa

I was contacted on Monday, - - with a voicemail from a - -, claiming to be a legal carrier and that I was scheduled to be served Tuesday, - -, either at home or at work. He provided a phone number to contact the creditor directly at -, case file # -. I spoke to a man who was trying to collect a debt from -. I did n't know if this company was legitimate or not because I was in my car and could n't look up the company. The debt is legitimate so I signed up for payments to pay off this debt. He was adamant that I needed to sign a release of funds from my credit union in order to charge my debit card. I had not faxed the form as of yet but I did receive a declined message in my email. First, I wanted my card

I spoke with my representative today and he stated the opposite of what he told me on Tuesday. He said the email and release was for my records. I told him that it did n't make sense because he was adamant that I had to physically sign and not electronically sign the release. He stated in the second call, that I did need to sign the form in order to get my paper stating my account had been paid in full, otherwise, I would not receive this letter. I told him that did n't make sense because if its paid off, it 's paid off and again, he said I needed to fax it in. Then he told me he sent me a physical copy and that I could sign it and mail it back to him. I did contact my credit union and they said I could n't do anything at this point ; however, I can block this company from charging my card ; however, I 'm scared not too because I do n't want any legal actions taken against me.
