I have a Chase Bank " Slate '' credit card. The interest rate used to be somewhere around 16 % ( perhaps lower - I do n't remember ). I have had this card for several years. Two years ago, I was late with 2 payments. Chase bank immediately jacked up my interest rate to 22 %. I have made my payments all on time since then and my credit score is now -. But Chase refuses to lower my interest rate to something more reasonable, telling me that 22 % is the lowest 'available ' rate and that 's all I 'm going to get. Women ca n't pay those kinds of rates - we do n't make that kind of money! And I 'm over -! I always pay my bills. I 've never filed for bankruptcy. I 've never defaulted on anything. I feel like I 'm getting truly rotten treatment - and this from a bank that was bailed out by my taxpayer dollars - to the tune of - dollars!
