Medical Disclosure verification of debt Right to dispute notice not received Georgia
I went to the doctor for a medical condition with -. I completed all of the necessary paperwork and the doctor 's office filed a claim on my behalf which was supposed to have been sent to the insurance company ( - ). I never heard anything back from the doctor 's office after that nor did I get any information from the insurance company stating that I owed any money. Shortly after that visit I moved to a new address and never received a bill from the insurance company or the doctor. About one year later, I was checking my credit reports and I find - entries of collection on my reports. - was from PDQ Services Inc and the other was from - but with the PDQ Services address and information. I immediately called the doctor office and was told that there was nothing they could do and that I would have to call PDQ. I immediately called PDQ and offered to pay the bill in order to get it off of my credit reports as I did n't want my credit tarnished from a $230.00 bill. PDQ was paid via credit card online. After that I still
purpose based on the fact that I never received a notice of a bill. Neither PDQ, - or the credit reporting agencies wanted to listen to my plea. I honestly feel that I have been taken advantage of and become a victim of shoddy medical collection practices. I also think that the doctor never attempted to contact me as this could have easily been paid in the early stages if only I had been contacted. I asked the credit reporting agencies to verify the methods and they basically gave me a nonchalant answer. They claimed to have verified the collection but could n't have as PDQ and the doctor sent me a letter stating that they were not going to address my complaint. Everyone ignored my pleas after I paid the account and all they wanted was their money. They had no concern for my rights as a citizen. The credit reporting agency says that they mask reports when sending out medical information but I am inclined to disagree as I see poor reporting from them each time I look at my credit reports now. PDQ does not bargain in good faith and should have never had my medical information in the first place as they have no business associate agreement with the doctor. I asked for this but it was never given which leads me to believe that they are handling sensitive information without a need. I asked them to verify the debt after the fact and they only sent me a letter stating that the debt had been paid in full. All in all, this has been one unpleasant situation to be in as a result of a $230.00 medical collection debt.
