First I started to get calls from a strange - number I did not recognize. When the caller finally left a message it stated I owed a past debt that has already been settled. This shocked and frustrated me as I had finished a debt consolidation service two years back and was being careful with my current finances. I still have my debt consolidation paperwork and have access to past bank statements. I blocked the company 's number from my phone. I have since gotten a letter in the mail from the same company saying thank you for my " recent payment '' and to pay the current past debt balance. I have not made any payment to these people and I am mad that they even know I own the past account they are trying to collect off of. I get a sense this is fraud. I originally settled this account ( Chase Bank USA ) through - back in 2014. The debt agency settled with - - - - - who was the owner of the debt.
