After an accident, the person who was involved in it ( other car ) was trying to collect money for the damage done to his car ( based solely on his own estimates ). Since the police believed it was my fault in the accident, I agree the other person should get paid for the damages. The only issue is that my insurance company should pay for his car right? At the time of accident I was driving my mother 's car, which was insured on her name. I was not included in the policy BUT we lived in the same household and I was never excluded from the policy. The law says if the person lives in the same household and is not excluded ( in writing ) from the policy he/she should be still covered. So what I believe is happening is that the insurance company refuses to pay for his car saying I was not in the policy at the time of an accident. They also refuse to agree the same household living fact.. Now the collection agency keeps sending me the collection letters and in fact they also keep increasing the amount owed. I spoke to - different collection representatives different times. Each promised to review the issue and come up with a resolution. Please review my situation carefully.
