Citibank Debt collection department,
Credit card Communication tactics Frequent or repeated calls California
I opened up a Home Depot credit line when I bought a new washer/dryer in - 2015. I asked then that it would be linked to my husband account ( married 25yrs ). After that and installing an air condition unit at our home & put on our Home Depot card. I sent Home Depot $250.00 over the minimum payment for - 2015 total of $400.00. I started receiving numerous phone calls from CitiFinancial telling us to call right away, regarding our Home Depot card. So I called, only to hear that our accounts had not been linked and that I was late paying the - that I had opened and thought was linked. So now not only do we have - separate bills to pay monthly but double the statements etc. I told a supervisor at CitiFinancial ( -, rude ) that this was all news to me since I had not received a current statement in my name. He told me that he was going to remove the late fees but that it was impossible to link our - accounts. I told him that I want to receive a updated statement every month as to how much and
-. Since then I have received over - phone calls from CitiFinancial ( - ) harassing me via my own land line and via my answering machine. They call every couple of hours beginning at -. My credit is in the - 's to - range. I never pay late bills and so I am not familiar with how much and how often these companies can call and harass people. But this seems to me that this is excessive for a $20.00 late fee assessment. There should be some laws in place to protect the consumer. In this case it was because of the false promise of linking our accounts and lack of a statement from CitiFinancial plus repeated phone calls that will cause me never to do business with this company again. The Home Depot should also be careful who they allow to finance their credit cards. Someone needs to investigate this company and their practices.
