Sterling Jewelers Inc. Credit card department,
I was told by a Kay Jewelers employee that they have an account that I can order that is not a credit card and will not affect anything having to do with credit rating agencies. '' I was told that the credit check is independent of the agencies and will not be shown as an attempt to obtain a line of credit or a credit card. '' I was also told that I will receive - % off my purchase. I did n't receive - % off, was left waiting for 30 min as they approved the card, and was then promptly charged interest on the card. Furthermore, I found out that this card was issued by obtaining a credit report, which I did NOT authorize. When I closed the account, I received a letter stating that the credit agencies will be notified of the closing of the account. This is completely unacceptable as I was misled on several levels.
