Cashing a check without an account Making/receiving payments, sending money North Carolina
I recently wanted local banks to cash U.S Government Savings EE Bonds that I purchased 30 years ago. - of the - banks that I visited to get this done refused to even talk to me because I was not a customer. On advice from Treasury-Minneapolis MN, I filled out Form - from their website. I was to take it to any bank to certify my signature and call a toll free number if their was a problem. They refused. Since purchasing the bonds from a Bank, it is reasonable that a bank would redeem the bonds. I have written to the - Banking Committee about my problem in detail with copies sent - and each of my - Representatives. I also sent a letter to - Bank President identifying excellent Customer Service of a local Bank Manager who listened to my needs and together we found a solution to my predicament. The reason for not being a local bank customer is explained in my letter -. I would be happy to forward copies of these letters to you so that you can fully understand what should have been a simple task took an entire day with a great deal of frustration dealing with a Catch 22 '' situation.
