The Best Service Co.,Inc Debt collection department,
I do not know Disclosure verification of debt Not disclosed as an attempt to collect California
A woman called me and immediately asked to speak with -. When I said that yes this was -, she claimed to be from " The Best Service Company '' and immediately asked me to verify my identity by providing my date of birth and the last - of my social. She did n't even ask what my last name was. I became suspicious, so I asked what her call was concerning. She then said that she could not discuss that with me unless I verified my identity. I then told her I feel hesitant to release that type of sensitive information over the phone to an unknown company that I did not personally call. She then said " I understand, is your date of birth **/**/**** ( She stated my full date of birth to me. - '' I then told her I am not comfortable confirming any sensitive information regarding my identity until I know the reason for the call. She told me that She could not tell me until she verified my identity. I then told her we were at an impasse since I have no knowledge of any relations with " The Best Service Company, ''
my information was shared over the phone without my consent, I contacted Transunion and had a fraud alert placed on my file. While reviewing my credit statement, I saw that The Best Service Company had placed a statement on my credit report claiming that I owed them a debt of $420.00 for an account with a local credit union, whom I have never had a line of credit with. I filled a dispute against the statement on my file. I am appalled that my personal information was disclosed over the phone, allowing for a simple " yes, or no '' answer to suffice as an adequate verification of identity. I am additionally aggrieved by the fact that my information was so easily provided to an unverified caller, who may not have had previous knowledge of the information shared. My privacy has been infringed, and my personal credit has been falsely affected in a negative light.
