JPMorgan Chase Credit card department,
As of my -/-/- Chase Visa statement, my only balance was $6900.00 which was entirely related to a 0 % APR balance transfer I had processed thru my Chase Visa account in -. This balance transfer includes a 0 % APR that does n't expire until -/-/-. Between -/-/- and -/-/-, I added $3800.00 in new purchases to my Chase Visa card. Since I knew I would incur finance charges ( at my regular 10.24 % APR rate ) immediately after these NEW purchases were posted, I paid off these new purchases a week later by paying $75.00 on - and $3700.00 on - ( Total= $3800.00 ). Rather than applying my payments to the higher interest rate balance, Chase applied most of my payment to the 0 % APR balance. I wrote a complaint to Chase Visa, but got back a messy canned response that repeated several sentences ( obviously a bad copy and paste job ) that claimed that all postings to my account were done correctly. Should n't Chase have applied my payments to the higher APR such as is mandated by the CARD Act of -?
