My daughter and I sold her car. We were careful to do everything in a public place including a location with video coverage. we were given a cashiers check for $10000.00 made out to the man who was purchasing the car. He signed it over to my daughter, we have witness and video of this along with receipts. The check was taken to Chase Bank in - Il, and deposited in her account. The cashier at the time said funds were available immediately. On the next day my daughters account said funds were available. On Saturday she called customer service to raise her point of purchase to $8000.00 to purchase a car. This was approved by Chase customer service. Dealer did not want to run credit card because of charges. We went to - - - branch of Chase to withdraw funds and a cashiers check. They refused us and said account must be placed on hold. We left and went to - branch where we bank. There we were told it is Chase 's policy to not release funds on 3rd party cashiers check unless issuing party is present or can be contacted. This person is avoiding all calls, texts, from us, my lawyer, and the bank. Chase says money will be held indefinitely. This was presented at time of deposit. Cashier took the check and deposited it like nothing is wrong. If I had been told of this I would not have deposited it, I would have gone to issuing bank. us, my law
