I listed an item on - and was contacted by a buyer who wanted to send me a check for payment. I agreed and he sent me a check written from - -, a - -. Routing number and account number showed funds available so JPMorgan/CHASE Bank cleared the check overnight, the - of -. The check was for significantly more than the item listed and I was directed to send the excess funds to a person in North Carolina. Then, on -, - -, CHASE informs me that the check was fictitious and states my account is now overdrawn by the amount of the check. CHASE should not of cleared the check so quickly and should be responsible for replacing the funds.
