Non-federal student loan Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt was paid Virginia
I held a debt amount with - - - Online ( - - - ) and was originally owed tuition reimbursement for dropped classes. I held a balance with the school and was told I did not have to fulfill the balance until my reimbursement was received. After coordinating my tuition reimbursement I called the school to pay the amount due and they notified me that they forwarded my balance to collections. This is the first issue. After receiving that information I called the collections agency involved ( - ) and was told that I could not remove the balance from my account due to it being a student loan and that my amount due was more than my reimbursement amount. I initially paid half of the balance up front and paid the remaining balance on -/-/2015. I have a written paid in full email from -. Two months later I was contacted by First-Source Collections agency via phone and was told that I have a balance from - - - ( - - - ). I immediately disputed the claim and asked for contact information to submit my paid in full letter from -. After submitting the letter First Source called me back 1 month later and informed me that I still had a balance from - and that it was forwarded from - to - and then - disbursed the amount remaining to the company that now owns the amount First Source. I was originally told by - that my only balance that was originally held with - was my only balance on record with the company when I originally made my dispute. My issue is that a random $ 1600.00+ balance was wrongfully generated with - - and that without justification they reported to my credit the loan amount while it was still in dispute. This amount is completely false and I believe that - - - via First Source is fraudulently trying to charge me already paid for sums of money originally held by - and paid for by myself.
