I 've received - calls from people at IC System named - and -, and in both cases, I was asked to verify who I am and my address. But when I asked who was calling and why, they would only tell me that they were with IC Systems and that they were calling about a business matter. '' When I asked what the business matter '' was about, they refused to tell me more until I verified my address. They both became increasingly indignant, and contunined to refuse to tell me what kind of company they were calling from and why they were calling. Not once did they mention that they were calling to collect on a debt. In - case, I told the caller that not disclosing what the call was about was illegal, and the caller, -, claimed that it was legal, saying that my information was already public and they just needed to verify it before disclosing why they were calling. It was only after I looked up IC System that I learned they were a debt collection agency.
