After I asked if I could make a smaller payment day of call and set up automatic payments each month the person on the phone said no they wo n't accept it and that they can serve my husband with a lawsuit even though he 's not on the debt because we live in California they are allowed to do that and also place a lien on my house even if the house is in my husbands name. The person said if I do n't pay the full amount that they will have to choose to take that action and sue my husband for the debt. I was told repeatedly they will do that and are able to because of the state I live in.
