I got a letter today, -/-/-, from RSI enterprises inc., saying that it was attempting to collect a debt from the DC office of tax and revenue. It says that I owe $4900.00 for a tax period end date on -/-/-. It then directs me to pay online -. The issues include:- I did not live in Washington, D.C. during the -/-/- tax year, so I do not owe this debt. I would attach a receipt for my -/-/- state tax return for the state where I was living, but I do n't want to give RSI more of my personal information. -. If this even is a legitimate debt collector with bad data, and not an outright scammer, a ) this is the - I 've heard about this issue - has this hurt my credit because they notified me 5 years after the data error was made? b - it says the principle was $2400.00, the interest is -, and the penalties are $600.00 - they essentially - the supposed debt? No wonder they did n't try and tell me sooner that they thought I owed this - they could charge more interest/fees. -. I am split on

This is exactly what scammers do to try and trick people - send official looking letters with threats of owed money, and then tell them to send money through sketchy .com websites. -. The letter includes a logo for the -. '' If RSI Enterprises, inc. is actually a member - they would have a ) a legitimate website, b - better data. If they are a member of the -, '' they should be kicked out.
