Credit Acceptance Corporation Consumer loan department,
Vehicle loan Managing the loan or lease North Carolina
On - -, 2015 ; I was involved in an automobile accident involving property at my apartment complex. I contacted the manager of the development and contacted the - County police Department to file an report. I contacted - - - - to file a claim to have the damage estimated and repaired. After provident the agent with details ; an adjuster completed the estimate, and the vehicle was declared total loss. I was contacted by - - ( total loss adjuster ) whom attempted to take possession of the vehicle without ever offering me an opportunity to retain the vehicle as salvaged. I then proceeded to contact the lien holder ( Credit Acceptance Corporation - to provide the claim number, phone number, name of adjuster and details to the accident. Over the next several weeks I was contacted repeatedly by the towing company assigned to the claim ; at which time I informed the driver that my intent was to retain the salvaged vehicle. The driver stated that he would inform - - of the information and removed my name from his list. After returning the requested document to - -, I received a telephone call stating that she
the conversation was said to be recorded ; that Ihad stopped my automatic draft payment on - -, 2015 ( prior to accident ). I then contacted - - ( financial institution ) and spoke with a customer service representative who examined my account to confirm that I had not processed an order to stop payment or block the merchant known as Credit Acceptance Corporation. ( see attachment : establishes that a payment was processed to Credit Acceptance Corporation on or around the date of - -, 2015 ) The - - representative instructed me to contact Credit Acceptance Corporation and offer the opportunity to conference via - way ( - -, Credit Acceptance and Myself ) and they would provide information that I did not stop payment. After contacting Credit Acceptance Corporation ; I was informed that was something they do not do and asked if I wanted to make a payment on the balance which has accrued to $1000.00. I then asked if I would be able to make a partial payment, and told no. I informed the representative that the stoppage of payment was a result of Credit Acceptance Corporation 's own actions. ( see attachment : Notification of Retained Vehicle stating that the insurance company has paid a total loss claim for the vehicle identified. - Mercury Grand Marquis, and notified DMV that it did not acquire my vehicle as a result of the claim. Therefore I can not understand Why - - insisted on taking the vehicle. ) I was informed by Credit Acceptance Corporation that the company would deal directly with the insurance provider if the vehicle was repossessed. I have GAP coverage on the vehicle so there should not be any discrepancy of the lien holder receiving the figure asked for payoff, or cause an issue of financing a balance on a salvage. During the time in which Credit Acceptance Corporation claims I stopped payment ; I have not been contacted in regards to the issue. The vehicle is equipped with devices warning of time of payments and have not been utilized ; as has been in the pastChat Conversation End
