I have been a member at this gym for a number of years. Recently, due to the - and a job that requires a great deal of travel, I have not had the ability to use my gym membership. I continued to allow myself to be billed for a number of months. A few months ago my credit card expired and the local gym manager ( I do n't have his name ) asked me if I would provide him a new -. I said I would like to cancel and explained my situation to him. He said ok '' and hung up. A - later, a new gym manager called and asked me to provide a new credit card. I explained what the prior gym manager told me and he said that was not a valid cancelation and that I would need to go in to the location and physically cancel. This is not an option for me. I then contacted the gym ( local and national office ) and provided them a written cancelation, which was not honored. I finally was forced to take the step of putting a stop payment on the payment with my bank because despite my revoked authorization, they kept pulling money from my account illegally. Today I received - calls from a rude debt collector. At this point I feel that - - is preying upon my family. They are trying to send me to collections for a service I canceled in writing. Furthermore, there was no extension of credit. This is an extremely deceptive and abusive practice.
