Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer California

According to Wells Fargo EFS, I opened a loan with them sometime between -/-/- and -/-/- for tuition at - - University in -, Ca. I did attend that school but I have no recollection of signing a loan with Wells Fargo. I have contacted them on several occasions requesting that they provide me with some form of proof that I initiated a loan with them, which they have not done to date. It appears that Wells Fargo is claiming that I owe them money, even though they are unable ( or unwilling ) to provide any proof that I have taken out a loan with them.
