The retail order invoice from the dealer indicates that the dealer charged me $20000.00 as the base price of the car ( before additional services were added ). This contradicts ( a ) the price of $18000.00 that appeared on the sticker of the car at the time of purchase, ( b ) the price of $18000.00 which the dealer verbally described to me, and ( c ) the $18000.00 MSRP of the exact vehicle as previously listed on a website linked to the dealer. It has been my understanding that per the terms of the Patriot Act, auto dealers can require a credit check before test driving a car while it allows them to give someone a rough idea of possible financing options without submitting a formal application for a loan.
