I deposited two checks from large corporations that I have deposited from previously. Wells Fargo put a hold on the checks the next morning saying they would not go into my account for a minimum of at least a week. When I called the bank to see what happened Wells Fargo said it could be longer than a week before I would get my money. Wells Fargo said they were n't sure what was wrong. I never sign the backs of my checks when I deposit in the ATM but Wells claimed that was the problem. Then Wells claimed the 2 entities that wrote the checks did n't have the money in their accounts to cover the checks. Later an extremely rude branch manager told me I was over drawn ( I was not ), and that was the reason the deposited checks were being held. Everyone I asked gave me a different excuse but no one was willing to help me get to the bottom of the problem. I was finally told by Loss Prevention that I needed to get verification letters from the banks that wrote the checks. I did this and Wells called to verify one check, which was then funded into my account. The other check had been canceled by the company that wrote it. The following Monday Wells debited my account for the canceled check. I called to tell them they could n't debit my account for the canceled check because it was never funded into my account. It had been held and never funded. The customer service person told me " it was never held. It was funded into my account the day I deposited it. Just look at my account online. '' They had manipulated my account and removed any evidence of the hold and made it look as though they had funded both checks into my account the very day I had deposited them!! I still have emails and a letter that was snail mailed to me for proof of the hold.
