Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I have a Wal-Mart credit card that I recently paid off, - -, in the amount of $ -. Today, my wife looked at our account, lo and behold, Wal-Mart had withdrawn an identical payment on - -. It was listed the same way as the previous payment, an online payment. My wife called our bank, and they could stop the still pending payment, but they would charge us. Even though it was an identical amount for an insanely high dollar value. They told her to call the credit card. When my wife called them to talk to them, they went between saying we did it, our bank did it, maybe a 3rd party did it, or someone paid in store or who knows what. They tried telling her that I must have made a $670.00 payment on a closed, zero balance card. After much arguing, they finally relented and reluctantly told my wife they would issue a refund. This however would take 7-10 days to get a check in the mail because they do n't issue electronic refunds ( despite the fact that they do electronic withdrawals ). So my wife called the bank back up who only decided to stop the payment and not charge us because we were such " good customers '' with " no previous overdraw fees ''. So then my wife had to call the Wal-Mart card back, and cancel the refund. They continued to blame us for it, and only after my wife prodded them, they admitted that had the refund continued through with our bank cancelling the payment, we would have had massive fees and fines for what they would consider " using a cancelled card. '' We finally got the whole thing resolved, but my wife had to spend all day on the phone. Wal-Mart credit card tried stealing $ - from us, and we had to twist arms to get our bank of 10 years to work with us.
