I recently checked my credit reports and discovered a negative listing reported on all three major credit reports. A debt collection agency called Medical Data Systems has been reporting medical debt that is not mine. I have no knowledge of the debt, other than it being listed on my credit reports. I immediately disputed the negative listing with -, - and -. I received my updated credit reports with this collection account coming back as verified with no further information. As per the CRA instructions, to receive further information, I contacted Medical Data Systems with a debt validation letter because I wanted to see any proof that I supposedly owed this alleged debt. I wanted to see a contract bearing my signature on this debt, I wanted to see anything that would show I entered into any agreement verbally or physically, I wanted to see anything that remotely tied me to this debt that was, by the way, not even in my hometown or even in my state for that matter. They responded in part by saying, " there is no basis in law to substantiate your right to such information ''. In addition, they did send me a copy of a paper stating " THIS IS NOT A BILL ''. It appears to be a listing of medical services that may or may not have been performed. It may also just be a quote or similar, I 'm not really sure what this paper is or who it pertains to. It only has my name typed at the top. It DOES NOT have my social security number, my birthdate, or my signature anywhere on this paper copy. The paper also says to call them to discuss payment arrangements. This debt is not mine, or anybody that is associated with me. This negative account information continuing to be reported by Medical Data Systems is harming my credit score and my reputation and my quality of life.
