Credit line increase/decrease New York
I have been a customer of this credit card company for about 2 years. I began with a credit line of about -, I then requested an increase and was given a line of -. Every one of my credit and loan accounts if in good standing, no account in default or missing payments. Periodically I review my accounts for changes in APR 's and I noticed that the available credit on this card was not what it used to be. I found that this bank lowered my credit line to - without notifying me, putting my utilization ratio to about 95 %, causing irreparable damage to my credit score. When I called them, they claim they had " concerns '' about my account. I asked if the account was in default, and they said no. Their concern : my OTHER cards had high balances. Not that they were delinquent or in default, and this is immediately after the -, when historically people use their cards the most. I believe this is an unfair practice, and it was only done for the credit card companys benefit. They refused to reinstate my original credit line so that my score was not impacted. I am planning to purchase a home in the next few months, and this will cost me a lot of money because of my credit score.
