I scheduled a credit card payment for my Costco Citi Visa Card to be paid on - -, 2017 in the amount of $6700.00 which was the statement balance on the card. On that day, - -, 2017, I received an email from Citi stating, " We reduced a recent payment of $6700.00 to $3900.00 from - -, 2017. When a payment exceeds an account 's balance, plus 7.5 % we reduce the payment to the balance on the day we withdrew the funds. I immediately called Citi card processing to inquire about the e-mail and actions they 've taken. The representative I spoke to expressed that $6700.00 will be debited from my checking account as that was what I scheduled. On - -, I noticed that Citi debited my checking account for the $6700.00 and the $3900.00. Per most recent statement, I was only required to pay the statement balance of $6700.00. I called Citi again to figure out what happened and to get my money back as I did not authorize the payment of $3900.00. I demanded that I get the $3900.00 back and the representatives told me that I wo n't get my money back until 3-5


get my money back soonest. She said that she will reach out to their refund department at her level to " escalate '' the issue. All of the representatives I spoke with agree that it was not my fault as I scheduled a payment for the statement balance and their system somehow collected an extra payment. I - - to give me an update soonest via e-mail ; I have not heard from her. Long story short, Citi took funds from my checking account without my authorization even after I spoke with their representative to ensure that only the payment of $6700.00 get debited in my checking account and they wo n't give it back until 3-5 business days.
