I heard, through a friend, about a promotional offer from Wells Fargo. The offer stated that Wells Fargo was offering a $250.00 cash bonus when you set up a new " - Checking Account ''. I went to my local branch located at : - - - - - - CO - After meeting with a banker I was told that they did not have any way to honor the offer, but that I should come back in one week and they would be able to do so. Instead I went online to set up the account, following all the instructions on Wells Fargo 's offer page for this promotion ( https : //www.wellsfargo.com/- I then received an email that my application had been successfully received - this email also included instructions for the bonus offer. After five days of waiting I had not heard anything else from Wells Fargo regarding my new account, so I called their customer service line for clarification. I was informed by a representative that I did not qualify for the promotion since I had not received an individualized email offer code for this particular promotion, even though such requirement was never mentioned once on their offer page, or in the confirmation email, or indeed at any time during the application process. It really seems like Wells Fargo put out a promotion to earn new customers without any intention of honoring that promotion. I would never have set up this checking account if not for this special offer. I feel completely duped. This seems a clear case of false advertising to me.
