Citibank obtained my credit report without my authorization. I requested a credit line increase on -/-/2016 through Citi Online self service. At the time of my request, a disclosure explicitly stated and I quote, " It 's easy to find out if you qualify for a credit limit increase. A credit bureau report will not be requested and you will receive an instant decision. '' Therefore, I went ahead submitted my request and received a confirmation email the next stating my request has been received and will be reviewed. I 'll be contacted with a decision. Several days later, I noticed my credit line has been increased. This happened without further communication from Citi. Earlier this month, when I was reviewing my - consumer report, a hard inquiry dated -/-/2016 was placed on my credit report by Citi. I consider this an unauthorized since Citi stated explicitly a credit report would not be pulled and I did not provide my authorization for Citi to do so. This could potential prevent me from obtaining other financial products or receiving a higher interest rate than I would without this inquiry. I 've contacted Citi several times and was placed on hold and transferred with extended period of time with no solution provided. Eventually, I was asked to send a letter to a PO box in order to have this reviewed. I do not feel the burden of proof should be on me since this is clearly an error by Citi. I would like to leverage the assistance of your agency to have Citi resolve their error and the inquiry removed from my consumer report as soon as possible.
